# Device Permission

If you create an API user account with User role, then you must assign device permissions to allow monitoring.

1\.      To edit device permissions, click on **Device Permissions** button.

2\.      Select the **type** of device.

3\.      Choose the devices you want from the **Available** field, then click **">>"** to move it to the Selected field and then click the **Submit** button. Now the device will be assigned to that user group. To **remove** an enabled device, click on the device, and then click the **"<<"** button. Available and Selected areas can be filtered.&#x20;

4\.       Click the **SAVE AND CLOSE** to apply changes.

Notice that device permissions button is only active for accounts with **User role**. Accounts with **Admin** role has **full permissions** on device, so **no need** to set permissions.
